CARINA SANDERTOFT

About the art

I primarily create to hold on to what otherwise disappear – a feeling, a moment, a particular light. Through painting and photography, I seek what touches me: the stillness of nature, a human encounter, a form that stands out, a color that lingers. It’s about capturing something from within – a mood, an energy.

Creating with varying techniques and motifs give me energy, but what stays throughout my art is "naturalness" without arranged images or symbolism in motifs and color. I value the genuiness and sincerity that you often find that in younger people or those who are focused on something other than themselves. I also enjoy weeds and nature growing wildly more that those planted by humans, but prefer to reproduce them in a way tthat allows personal interpretatiion in color and details.

Impressionistic light and color harmony are important components that can be seen throughout, including in my paintings of landscape and arquitecture.

I’m moved by what is genuine and unfiltered – both in nature and in people.
